Rita Setzke brings over 20 years of behavioral health experience to her role at Sunshine Community Health Center. With a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, she has served in diverse settings across Illinois and Alaska, including inpatient and outpatient clinics, group homes, and crisis shelters.
Before joining SCHC, Rita spent seven years in Bethel, Alaska, where she provided crisis intervention services and behavioral health support to Yupik individuals and families in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. Her extensive background includes individual counseling, behavioral assessments, psychoeducation, and life skills training.
At Sunshine Community Health Center, Rita is committed to creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions. Her approach is rooted in compassion and evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing.
Rita’s clinical interests span a wide range of mental health concerns including mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, substance and alcohol use, sleep issues, grief, self-esteem, stress management, interpersonal relationships, and gender-specific health challenges. She works with adolescents, adults, and families.
Originally from Chicago, Rita was drawn to SCHC by its reputation for exemplary care and the dedication of its team. She believes strongly in the center’s mission to promote mental wellness through respectful, community-centered care.
Outside of work, Rita enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and spending time with loved ones.
