Jayme Moudy-Ferrier is a dedicated Behavioral Health Clinician at Sunshine Community Health Center, having returned to her hometown of Talkeetna in 2023 to serve her community. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, and has a background in case management, where she worked for four years helping individuals cope with substance use, domestic violence, PTSD, chronic homelessness, trauma, and various mental health conditions. Her deep commitment to community health is driven by her passion for providing compassionate care and support to those facing life's most difficult challenges.
In addition to her clinical work, Jayme has a degree in ethnobotany, which reflects her natural inclination toward holistic approaches to therapy. She integrates ecotherapy and mind-body-spirit approaches into her work, believing that connecting with nature can be an important part of healing. Trained in Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and grief/loss modalities, Jayme takes a person-centered, strengths-based approach to working with her clients. She is currently pursuing further training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Parts Work, and Existential Therapy, all of which enhance her ability to offer a broad spectrum of healing techniques.
Jayme’s unique approach to therapy combines traditional therapeutic practices with a deep respect for the natural world, offering her clients a truly personalized and holistic experience. Outside of her clinical work, Jayme enjoys immersing herself in the Upper Susitna’s boreal forests, foraging for herbs and edible mushrooms, and wading in the Big Su River. She finds joy in art, music, and theatre but feels most connected to herself and her surroundings when singing to wood frogs and curious ravens in the wilderness.
Her passion for mental health, combined with her love for nature and holistic practices, makes Jayme a valued provider at Sunshine Community Health Center, offering an empathetic, individualized approach to her clients' well-being.
